Dr. Drake was born and raised in Hartselle, where he graduated with honors from Hartselle High School in 1995. Dr. Drake continued his education at UAB, where in 1999, he graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Biology. In May 2003, Dr. Drake received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the UAB School of Optometry. Deb Whitten – Office Manager

Deb is a native of Maryland, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Towson State University with a B.S. in Marketing and a minor in Management. She has extensive experience in both medical insurance and office management. Deb was the very first employee hired at Drake Eye Center in 2003. As office manager, Deb is proficient in all aspects of the office, including scheduling, insurance verification and benefits, patient care and opticianry. Suzanne Lokey-Garrett – Optician / Lab Manager

Suzanne has lived in Morgan County her entire life, where she graduated with honors from West Morgan High School. Suzanne is certified by the American Board of Opticianry and has worked in the optical business since 1982. At Drake Eye Center, she spends a good bit of time in the laboratory, cutting and edging lenses. She also assists patients with frame selection, as well as discussing different lens styles and options. Suzanne’s optical experience allows her to help patients understand which particular lenses will work best for their particular needs. >> full bio >>

Kris Barnett – Ophthalmic Technician

Kris is a native of Jasper, Alabama, where she attended Walker High School and Bevill State Community College. She has been a resident of Hartselle for four years. Kris has worked as a certified paraoptometric (ophthalmic technician) since 2008, joining the staff at Drake Eye Center in 2010. At Drake Eye Center, she is the main tech, which means she seats the patients in the exam room, discusses any visual problems or concerns the patient may have, and performs the initial testing prior to patients seeing the doctor. >> full bio >>

Sabrina Standridge – Insurance / Billing

Sabrina Standridge is a native or North Alabama and graduated from Decatur High School. She has been working in the eye care industry since 1999. At Drake Eye Center, she works primarily in billing. She spends a good bit of her time with insurance verification, filing and reconciliation, but works in most all clerical aspects of the office. Martha Pitt – Optician

Martha is a graduate of Colbert County High School and attended Calhoun Community College, but currently lives in Lawrence County. She has been in the optical business since 2005. As the primary optician at Drake Eye Center, Martha spends the majority of her time working one-on-one with patients, helping them find the frame that looks and fits them the best.
